THE WILKINS SAFETY GROUP has formed an association with another company that has achieved UKAS Accreditation for sampling, surveying, fibre counting and analysis of asbestos containing materials (ACMs).
Our associates have considerable experience in conducting surveys in Listed Buildings where professional knowledge of building structures is required.
Where renovation surveys are undertaken, advanced survey techniques are employed including the use of camera probes where more intrusive methods are not appropriate.
They have carried out numerous asbestos surveys for a wide range of organisations ranging from an international airport, large school sites and hospitals.
When working with asbestos materials, they are divided into three categories.
The legislation is different for each category:
Management of Asbestos
The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations came into effect on the 21st November 2002.
Regulation 4 introduced a new duty concerning the management of asbestos and became enforceable in 2004. The regulations were further updated in The
Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 (CAR2006) and more recently in April 2012 (CAR2012).
The legislation relates to non-domestic properties, the common parts of blocks of flats are considered to fall into this category.
Management Survey which is required to set up and manage an asbestos register in occupied premises or a Refurbishment and Demolition Survey which is
required prior to any structural alterations or demolition work being carried out.
We can also recommend a couple of HSE licensed companies for the asbestos removal work.
