Health and Safety Consultants and CDM Specialists Wilkins Safety Group were recognised for its excellent work on £3.8 million conservation project at the Association for Project Safety (APS) National CDM Awards in Edinburgh held on 7th October 2015.

The awards recognise excellence in health and safety risk management during design and construction phases, and were judged by leading industry figures including the Health & Safety Executive.

Wilkins Safety Group was highly commended as CDM Coordinator and Principal Designer for their work on the Dyrham Park re-roofing project and installation of a new biomass boiler in the “Architectural Project of the Year Award 2015”

Amazingly, Dyrham Park has not only remained open to the public during this, but they have also been able to offer their visitors a unique opportunity to see the works close up. They have installed an extra level of scaffold with an access lift, to provide a loop of over 230m of fully wheelchair accessible walkways and viewing platforms 20m above ground which offer unprecedented views of the building and works. This innovative idea gave Jon Wilkins from Wilkins Safety Group plenty of health and safety issues to resolve.

On winning this award Jon Wilkins said:

“We are delighted to be recognised for our excellence in health safety and wellbeing on this major conservation scheme. I’d like to extend my gratitude to The National Trust team at Dyrham, the rest of the design team – Purcell Architects, Intergral Engineering Structural Engineers, Qoda Consulting M&E Engineers, Mildred Howell Quantity Surveyors – and Ken Biggs Building Contractors for working well together to make this project a resounding success with the National Trust reporting that visitor numbers increased on previous years and many people returning just to take the roof tour. ”
